One series includes case files involving winnings claims and suspicious lottery tickets, as well as bankruptcy cases involving ticket retailers. Also included are legislative reference files containing information on laws establishing and affecting the Kansas Lottery. These files contain correspondence, memoranda, notes, and legal documents.

In November of 1986, sixty-four percent of Kansas voters approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the creation of a state lottery. The Kansas Legislature passed the "Kansas Lottery Act" in 1987, and the Kansas Lottery was established. The Kansas Lottery Act is contained in statutes K.S.A. 74-8701 through K.S.A. 74-8732. The mission of the Kansas Lottery is to produce the maximum amount of revenue possible for the State of Kansas while insuring the integrity of all games. [Kansas State Lot...
